The stepper driver for that axis has tripped on overcurrent or overtemperature. Check the driver LED — red or flashing means alarm state.

Limit Switch Triggered

Step-by-Step Axis Diagnosis

Identify which axis is affected

Try jogging X, Y, and Z separately. Note which axis does not move. Also note if the axis makes a humming sound (motor energised but not moving) or is completely silent (no power reaching motor).

Check stepper driver alarm LED

Look at the driver for the affected axis. A green LED means normal. Red or flashing means alarm. Power off, check motor wiring on that axis, reconnect all terminals, power on and retry.

Check limit switch state

In the RichAuto controller status screen, check if any limit switch shows as triggered. If yes, jog the axis away from the limit using the manual override function. If the limit switch itself is stuck, replace it.

Test motor wiring continuity

Power off. Disconnect the motor cable at the driver. Use a multimeter to check continuity on all 4 motor wires (A+, A-, B+, B-). Any open circuit = broken wire or failed motor winding.

Manually test the axis mechanics

With machine off, manually push the axis carriage. It should move smoothly with light resistance. If it is stiff or jammed, locate the mechanical obstruction — check lead screw, coupling, and linear rails.

Replace driver or motor if needed
